Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal: I am ready to take on Microsoft, Google, and more

Indian ride-hailing giant Ola is set to disrupt the artificial intelligence (AI) space with the launch of its cloud platform, Krutrim Cloud. This move is aimed at offering competitive prices and an open ecosystem tailored to the needs of Indian developers.

During a recent event, Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal expressed his confidence in Krutrim Cloud’s ability to outperform global tech leaders like Google and Microsoft. He emphasized the platform’s focus on building energy-efficient data centers and providing affordable cloud services for AI development.

Aggarwal highlighted the high cloud service costs faced by developers in India and stressed Krutrim Cloud’s mission to offer a cost-effective solution. He stated, “We are building our own technology to make the most efficient data centers in the world. I am willing to compete with Microsoft, Google, or whoever to say, we will do better than them.”

Krutrim Cloud also distinguishes itself with its commitment to openness, in contrast to the closed ecosystems of established tech giants. Aggarwal criticized companies like Amazon, Google, and Apple for restricting developers and outlined Krutrim’s goal to empower developers with a full-stack AI platform.

Moreover, Krutrim Cloud’s AI assistant is designed to understand and respond in over 10 Indian languages, with plans to expand to all 22 official languages. Aggarwal emphasized the platform’s focus on developing models tailored to the Indian market, including voice and vision-based models.
