Olugbenga Agboola, the founder and CEO of Flutterwave, has been appointed as the Vice Chair of the United States Chamber of Commerce’s U.S-Africa Business Center (USAfBC). The announcement was made in New York City during the U.S-Nigeria Executive Dialogue, where President Bola Tinubu and the USAfBC board chair company, Pepsico, endorsed and commended the decision.

USAfBC, established in 2009, aims to increase trade between the U.S and Africa by engaging with Africa’s regional economic communities, the African private sector, and SMEs from both regions. The organization believes that partnering with Agboola and Flutterwave will help further these goals.

In response to his appointment, Agboola expressed his excitement at contributing to the partnership between Africa and the global economy. He highlighted Africa’s importance in the global economic narrative and emphasized the potential for digital transformation on the continent.

Flutterwave, under Agboola’s leadership, has become one of Nigeria’s most successful technology companies and is making strides in dominating the African remittance market. With a valuation of over $1 billion and processing over 550 million transactions worth more than $32 billion, Flutterwave is a strong partner for USAfBC.

The fintech company’s recent $250 million Series D funding round at a valuation of over $3 billion further solidifies its position as a key player in the African tech industry. Flutterwave’s presence in 34 African countries and acquisition of payment licenses in 13 U.S. states make it a valuable asset for the U.S-Africa Business Center.
