One person was killed and 20 others were injured in twin landmine blasts that shook Thaikedar Naddi in the Duki district of Balochistan, reported ARY News. The first explosion occurred when a truck hit a landmine, followed by a second blast as people gathered at the scene, according to the details.
Police officials confirmed that both landmine blasts resulted in the killing of one citizen. The injured individuals are currently being shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, as reported by ARY News.
This incident comes on the heels of a similar tragedy last month, where a policeman was killed and 20 individuals sustained injuries in a blast near a mosque situated on Kuchlak Road in Quetta. Rescue sources revealed that 12 people were injured, including five security personnel, and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for further treatment.
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the incident site and initiated an investigation to determine the nature and cause of the explosion. Notably, Balochistan has been witnessing a rise in terrorism activities lately, with several incidents of violence reported in recent months.
In February, a human rights group expressed concern over the “lethal and targeted violence” in Balochistan, highlighting the need for increased security measures to protect the residents of the province. The authorities are working to address the escalating security concerns and ensure the safety of the people in the region.
