A suspected gas explosion at a residential building in China’s northeastern city of Harbin has left one person dead and three others injured. The incident, which occurred in the Xiangfang district of the city, tore off a balcony and scattered rubble in the street.

According to reports, the blast, believed to have been caused by an explosion of a gas tank, took place at around 7 a.m. local time. Witnesses described hearing a loud blast and suspected it was a gas explosion. The explosion ripped off the balcony of the apartment and damaged several nearby buildings.

Residents quickly evacuated the building as ambulances, public security, and fire officials arrived at the scene to conduct a rescue operation. Video footage captured the aftermath of the explosion, showing debris scattered onto a nearby highway and rescue workers navigating through concrete rubble on the sidewalk.

This tragic incident comes on the heels of another gas explosion in March that claimed the lives of two people and injured 26 others in the northern province of Hebei. The cause of the explosion in Harbin is currently under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to this devastating event.
