In a recent interview, Orlando Bloom reminisced about his time working with Johnny Depp on the set of the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, “The Curse of the Black Pearl.” The 47-year-old actor from the U.K. shared his admiration for Johnny’s dedication to his character, Captain Jack Sparrow.
“Johnny was just in his flow, you know? He was very much enjoying every moment of chewing that scenery,” Orlando said. “He built out a character that I think he really enjoyed playing. It’s fun to see actors really love what they’re doing and sort of laughing at themselves a little.”
Orlando also mentioned how he observed Johnny chuckling and creating moments for his character on set. The two actors went on to star in several more Pirates of the Caribbean films together, with Johnny reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow and Orlando playing Will Turner.
The future of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was uncertain for a while due to Johnny Depp’s legal issues with his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Disney eventually cut ties with Johnny, leading to discussions about a potential reboot of the series with a female-led storyline starring Margot Robbie.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed the plans for a reboot, signaling a new direction for the beloved film franchise. Despite the challenges faced by the series, fans can look forward to a fresh take on the swashbuckling adventures on the high seas.
