Oshkosh Area School District Education Foundation raises $100,000 at gala

The Oshkosh Area School District Education Foundation’s annual gala was a resounding success, raising $100,000 to support Career and Technical Education programs in the district. The event, held at The Waters, saw more than 120 attendees dressed in their finest Kentucky Derby attire, enjoying student-made projects and entertainment.

Student-made projects on display included cribbage boards, charcuterie boards, decals, screen-printed shirts, etched glass, and miniature food truck models. Attendees were also treated to a student battle bots demonstration and delicious treats from the dessert bar, all made by the students themselves.

Leading up to the gala, student designer Elizabeth Bird created a collection of unique Derby-inspired hats that were auctioned off, with the winners getting to wear them at the event. The OASD Education Foundation’s fundraising gala aims to support Oshkosh public schools, with proceeds benefiting a specific need or area each year.

In other news, the Communities Program at Oshkosh North High School partnered with Park View Health Center to connect students with residents. Five juniors visited Park View each Tuesday during the second semester, spending time playing games like Bingo and Uno with the residents and organizing a flower pot painting activity.

Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh was awarded a $3,000 literacy grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation as part of nearly $80,000 in grants awarded to Wisconsin non-profit organizations, libraries, and schools. The grants will be used to enhance literacy efforts and provide resources to positively impact students’ lives.
