Outrage sparked by ‘sex abuse’ tapes allegedly involving Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna

Indian MP Prajwal Revanna Accused of Sexual Abuse

Thousands of videos allegedly showing Indian MP Prajwal Revanna sexually abusing women have surfaced in the southern state of Karnataka, causing widespread outrage. The Janata Dal (Secular) MP is accused of assaulting several women, with police launching an investigation into the allegations.

While Mr. Revanna has not commented on the accusations, an official from his office has denied them, claiming the videos are doctored. The MP’s father, HD Revanna, who is a legislator in the Karnataka state assembly, is also implicated in the police complaint filed by a former family employee. He has refuted the allegations, labeling them as a political conspiracy.

In response to the scandal, the JD(S) party announced the suspension of Prajwal Revanna. Karnataka’s Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah has ordered a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the case following a request from the state’s women’s commission.

The videos emerged just after Prajwal Revanna’s constituency, Hassan, voted in the general election. Reports suggest that more than 2,000 pen drives containing incriminating footage were circulated before the election. The clips, allegedly filmed by Mr. Revanna himself, depicted the faces of the women he purportedly abused.

The case has sparked a political storm in Karnataka, with many questioning how an individual accused of such heinous acts was allowed to leave the country without facing questioning. The BJP and JD(S) have distanced themselves from the accused politicians, with promises of disciplinary action if the charges are proven.
