Jamestown Track & Field Classic showcased some impressive performances from local athletes over the weekend at Strider Field. The Jamestown Red & Green teams finished in third place for both the girls and boys results, with the girls totaling 61.5 points and the boys totaling 81.
Hamburg emerged as the top girls team with 95 points, followed by Iroquois with 82. On the boys side, Hamburg also claimed victory with 124 points, with Iroquois coming in second with 95.
Jamestown had standout performances from Belle Johnson, Emily Cardinale, and Javiana Matos on the girls side, with Johnson winning the 800 meters, Cardinale taking the pole vault, and Matos dominating the shot put.
For the boys, Noah Burch secured a win in the 400 meters, while Avery Thagard claimed victory in the high jump. The team of Stephen Hallberg, Maxwell Knight, Owen Caswell, and Isaiah Sanchez also impressed by winning the 3,200-meter relay.
Other notable performances included Frewsburg’s Gracie Conlan winning both the long jump and triple jump, and Silver Creek/Forestville’s Emily Bowers taking first in the 3,000 meters.
Overall, the Jamestown Track & Field Classic was a showcase of local talent and a display of hard work and dedication from all the participating athletes. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for their outstanding performances.
