Scottsbluff business owner Michael Moravec has been recognized for his outstanding contributions and resilience in the business world. Moravec, the owner of Bluffs Physical Therapy, was recently named Nebraska’s Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

During ceremonies in Washington, D.C., Moravec received the prestigious award from SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman. Tim Mittan, SBA Nebraska district director, commended Moravec for his dedication and hard work, stating that he truly deserved the recognition.

Moravec’s journey to success was not without its challenges. Despite facing setbacks in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Moravec persevered and managed to grow his practice from one employee to a team of 24 at Bluffs Physical Therapy. He credited the support of his wife, Lisa, and his employees for helping him navigate the difficulties and achieve success.

One key factor in Moravec’s success was his collaboration with the SBA and the Nebraska Business Development Center. With their assistance, Moravec was able to secure funding, develop a business plan, and expand his practice into a larger facility.

In addition to his business acumen, Moravec’s commitment to community involvement also played a significant role in his recognition. He serves on multiple community boards, volunteers, and donates to various organizations, schools, and programs.

As he accepted the award, Moravec expressed gratitude to his community for their support and looked forward to the future. The ceremonies also included a proclamation from Scottsbluff Mayor Jeanne McKerrigan, declaring Small Business Week in honor of Moravec’s achievements.

Overall, Moravec’s story serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs, showcasing the importance of resilience, community involvement, and dedication in achieving success in the business world.
