Owner of Clark County Business Denies Accusations of Witchcraft

The Crystal Coven Mystic Cottage in Winchester, Kentucky, is facing unexpected backlash just weeks before its one-year anniversary. Owner Shannon Tipton has been accused of practicing witchcraft and devil worship, allegations she vehemently denies.

Tipton, who describes her shop as a metaphysical store offering stones, crystals, jewelry, incense, herbs, and teas for energy protection and healing, was shocked to receive messages from local leaders insinuating that her business was a religious establishment. Despite the accusations, Tipton maintains that she is simply running a business and not a religious organization.

The controversy began when Winchester-Clark County Tourism promoted an event at the Crystal Coven Mystic Cottage, sparking outrage among some community members. Tipton has since been the target of hateful messages and threats, causing fear among her customers and impacting her business.

In response to the backlash, Clark County District 4 magistrate Mark Miller emphasized that Tipton has the right to operate her business and that individuals have the freedom to choose whether or not to support it. However, the situation has escalated to the point where Tipton has sought legal representation to address the harassment and protect her rights.

Pastor Lee Cruse, who attended a meeting regarding the controversy, expressed willingness to engage in dialogue with Tipton to address concerns and find common ground.
