Owner of Ocean Realms transforms childhood hobby into successful business venture

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Ocean Realms, a hidden gem in Goose Creek, offers a mesmerizing experience for fish enthusiasts and those seeking a unique form of relaxation. Owner Lisa Trill has turned her passion for fish into a thriving business, showcasing a stunning array of colorful coral and exotic fish species.

Trill, who has been keeping fish tanks since she was 8 years old, opened Ocean Realms three and a half years ago. With a degree in environmental chemistry and geology, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the business. Despite the challenges of maintaining healthy fish and the high costs involved, Trill’s dedication to her craft shines through.

The shop features a variety of fish with intriguing names like the Extreme Picasso Clown Fish and the Hawk Fish, captivating visitors with their unique personalities and behaviors. Trill emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of owning fish, citing studies that show a decrease in stress and blood pressure levels.

For those interested in starting their own aquatic journey, Trill recommends beginner-friendly options like Tetras or Bettas for freshwater tanks and clownfish for saltwater tanks. She highlights the longevity of clownfish, which can live up to 15 years or more with proper care.

With a deep love for saltwater fish and corals, Trill’s passion is evident in every aspect of Ocean Realms. The grand re-opening on May 4 served as a reminder to residents that they don’t have to look far to find a piece of the ocean in their own homes.
