Owner of ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ Embracer Group to Divide Business Into Three Entities

Embracer Group, the company that owns the IP rights to the Lord of the Rings franchise, has announced a major restructuring plan that will see the company divided into three separate operations. The move is aimed at maximizing the potential of its highly strategic franchises and enhancing its chances of success in the market.

The three new operations will include games publisher Asmodee Group, indie gaming label Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, which will focus on managing the Lord of the Rings and Tomb Raider rights. Each of these companies will be publicly listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange, with Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends remaining within the current listed Embracer Group.

Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors, the company’s largest shareholder, expressed his excitement about the new structure and emphasized his commitment to remaining a long-term, active, and supportive owner of all three entities. The restructuring program, which has been in the works since June last year, aims to streamline operations, improve efficiencies, and consolidate resources.

Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends will focus on gaming development and publishing for PC and console, leveraging its AAA capabilities and partnerships to create immersive entertainment IPs. The company will also oversee franchises such as Dead Island, Killing Floor, and Metro.
