The Palm Beach Symphony has unveiled its exciting six-concert series for the upcoming 2024-25 season, following a successful 50th-anniversary season. The orchestra, led by music director Gerard Schwarz, will showcase a diverse range of music, including works by American composers from the 20th and 21st centuries.
The season will kick off on Nov. 10 with a concert featuring Julian Schwarz, a talented cellist and the son of Gerard Schwarz, as the soloist in Antonin Dvořák’s Cello Concerto. The program will also include pieces by American composers Ellen Taaffe Zwilich and Jennifer Higdon, as well as the iconic “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Modest Mussorgsky.
Throughout the season, audiences can look forward to performances by renowned soloists such as Leonidas Kavakos, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gil Shaham, Garrick Ohlsson, and Anne-Marie McDermott. The repertoire will include works by Brahms, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and more.
In addition to the main concerts, the orchestra will also present a special children’s concert featuring Ottorino Respighi’s “The Birds” and a new tale written by Jody Schwarz, wife of Gerard Schwarz.
Subscription packages for the Masterworks Series start at $120, with tickets for individual concerts going on sale in September.
