Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, Superintendent/President of Palomar College, has taken a significant step towards promoting Latino student success in higher education by affiliating with the national network of Presidents for Latino Student Success (P4LSS), as announced by Excelencia in Education.

The P4LSS network, formed in 2014, consists of presidents and chancellors committed to creating learning environments where Latino and all students thrive. Dr. Rivera-Lacey will collaborate with Excelencia and other postsecondary leaders to leverage collective expertise and resources, foster partnerships, and accelerate Latino student success at the national level.

Palomar College, a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 50% of students identifying as Hispanic, values and respects each student’s experiences to support academic success. Dr. Rivera-Lacey expressed excitement about gaining new insights that will positively impact students well beyond their time at Palomar College.

The P4LSS network, comprising over 150 leaders, enrolls 32% and graduates 34% of all Latino students in higher education, despite representing only 5% of colleges and universities nationwide. This network of action-oriented leaders aims to ensure America’s future by accelerating Latino student success.

Excelencia in Education, celebrating 20 years of service in 2024, continues to promote Latino student achievement, inform educational policies, and advance institutional practices to meet the country’s need for a highly educated workforce and engaged civic leaders.
