Panthers face numerous needs as they head into the NFL draft

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Carolina Panthers are facing a crucial draft this year after a disappointing season that saw them finish with the worst record in the league. With a laundry list of needs, the Panthers are in a tough spot as they do not have a first-round pick, having traded it away to the Chicago Bears last year.

The trade, which saw the Bears select quarterback Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick, has left the Panthers with little to show for their struggles. Owner David Tepper made significant changes to the front office, bringing in former linebacker Dan Morgan as the new GM and Dave Canales as the head coach.

With two early second-round picks, the Panthers have the opportunity to address key positions such as edge rusher, wide receiver, cornerback, and tight end. The team’s defense took a hit with the departure of key players like Brian Burns and Frankie Luvu, making edge rusher a top priority.

On the offensive side, the Panthers could use more weapons for Young, who struggled in his rookie season. Adding a dynamic wide receiver or tight end could help elevate the team’s passing game. While the offensive line has been bolstered in free agency, there is still room for improvement, especially at the center position.

As the draft approaches, all eyes will be on the Panthers and their new brain trust to see how they address their pressing needs and set the team up for success in the upcoming season. With a mix of young talent and experienced veterans, the Panthers will be looking to make a statement in the draft and build a competitive roster for the future.
