Partner of windfarm relocates to Aberdeen city centre

Flotation Energy, a key player in the development of the world’s largest floating windfarm, has made a significant move to the iQ office building on Justice Mill Lane in Aberdeen. The energy firm, which currently employs around 50 people in the city, is expected to experience substantial growth following the approval of proposals for Green Volt, located approximately 50 miles off the coast of Peterhead.

The relocation to the iQ building sees Flotation Energy occupying 3,812 sq ft of newly refurbished office space on the ground floor. The company’s general counsel, Dan Wright, expressed excitement about the move, citing the innovative environment, sustainability credentials, and thriving community as key factors in the decision.

Flotation Energy specializes in delivering clean, green, and renewable energy through its expertise in floating and fixed offshore wind technologies. The company joins a cluster of energy and renewables businesses already based in the building, further solidifying Aberdeen’s reputation as a global energy hub.

In addition to the bespoke open-plan offices, Flotation Energy will have access to the iQ Building’s newly refurbished common areas, including a business lounge and atrium break-out area designed to foster collaborative working. The Grade A building has achieved a BREEAM certification of ‘Very Good’ and an ActiveScore rating of ‘Gold’, highlighting its commitment to sustainability.
