Tragedy struck on Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London to Singapore as one person lost their life and several others were injured due to severe turbulence. The Boeing 777-300ER was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members when it was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok.

The flight, which took off from Heathrow at 10.38pm UK time on Monday, experienced a sudden drop of 6,000ft in just three minutes while cruising at 37,000ft. This terrifying incident led to chaos on board, with reports of injuries and one fatality.

Upon landing in Bangkok at 3.45pm local time on Tuesday, emergency services were quick to respond, with ambulances lining up at Suvarnabhumi airport. Sky’s Asia correspondent Cordelia Lynch reported that as many as 30 people may have been injured, with local media suggesting that two individuals may have lost their lives.

Singapore Airlines expressed their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that they are working closely with Thai authorities to provide medical assistance to those affected. A team has been dispatched to Bangkok to offer additional support to passengers and crew members.

The cause of the turbulence is still under investigation, with some reports suggesting the flight hit an air pocket.
