Passengers at Dubai Airport experience additional delays following unprecedented rainfall

Dubai International Airport has announced that it will limit its number of inbound flights for 48 hours due to continuing delays caused by this week’s storms. The directive will be in place starting at noon on Friday.

The decision comes after the country experienced its heaviest rainfall in 75 years earlier in the week, with some areas recording more than 250mm of rain in less than 24 hours. The storms have caused widespread disruption and damage across the UAE.

In response to the ongoing disruption, Dubai International Airport is temporarily limiting the number of arriving flights to speed up recovery efforts. The airport stated, “We’re endeavoring to do our best to support guests impacted by delays due to recent unprecedented weather conditions.”

Meanwhile, President Sheikh Mohamed received phone calls of support from King Abdullah II of Jordan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, expressing their wishes for the safety of the UAE following the storm. Sheikh Mohamed thanked both leaders for their gestures of support, highlighting the strong relations between the UAE, Jordan, and Pakistan.
