Miami Heat president Pat Riley didn’t hold back in his assessment of his players following their early exit from the playoffs. In particular, Riley had some harsh words for Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro.
Butler, who missed the series with an MCL injury, had claimed that the Heat would’ve advanced if he had been healthy. Riley, however, was critical of Butler’s comments and also took aim at Herro, labeling him as “fragile.”
Herro, who has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons, has struggled to stay on the court for the Heat. Despite his talent and scoring ability, his durability has been a concern for the team.
The Heat, known for their defensive prowess, have faced offensive challenges, especially with key players like Herro and Butler sidelined. In an effort to address their scoring woes, the team acquired Terry Rozier midseason, but the guard has yet to find his rhythm in Miami.
With Butler’s future with the Heat uncertain beyond the upcoming season, the team faces questions about their roster moving forward. While Herro is under contract for the next three seasons, his ability to stay healthy will be crucial for the Heat’s success.
As the Heat look to regroup and make adjustments in the offseason, Riley’s candid comments serve as a reminder of the high expectations and standards set for the team.
