Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley has found himself in hot water after being suspended four games without pay by the NBA for his actions during and after the Bucks’ playoff loss to the Indiana Pacers.
During the game, Beverley threw a basketball at a fan who was reportedly heckling players from behind the Milwaukee bench. Unfortunately, he missed and hit a woman in the head instead. Another fan then tossed the ball back to Beverley, who aggressively threw it back at the fan, leading to a heated exchange of words.
In addition to his on-court behavior, Beverley also faced backlash for his interaction with a reporter. During an episode of his podcast, Beverley refused to answer a question from ESPN’s Malinda Adams because she wasn’t a subscriber to his podcast.
Despite his actions, Beverley expressed remorse on his podcast, acknowledging that his behavior was unacceptable and vowing to do better in the future.
The 35-year-old guard is now a free agent after the Bucks were eliminated from the playoffs. Beverley averaged 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 73 games this season split between the Philadelphia 76ers and Bucks.
This suspension serves as a reminder that professional athletes are held to a high standard of conduct both on and off the court, and Beverley will have to work to rebuild his reputation moving forward.
