Former NBA player Paul Pierce is not worried about his former team, the Boston Celtics, ahead of the NBA Finals. Despite some close games in the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers, Pierce believes that these tight moments have actually been beneficial for the team.
In an interview on “Undisputed,” Pierce expressed his enjoyment of the close games, stating that it showed the Celtics could come from behind and win when it mattered most. He attributed some of the close games to Tyrese Haliburton’s injury, which led to unexpected players stepping up and playing bigger roles.
While the Pacers may not have the same level of talent as teams like the Dallas Mavericks or Minnesota Timberwolves, Pierce emphasized the importance of being battle-tested and having the know-how to win close games. The Celtics have historically struggled with maintaining intensity and dropping games they should have won, but their ability to flip the switch and perform under pressure has been a positive sign.
As they prepare to face tougher competition in the NBA Finals, including the Mavericks, the Celtics will need to be at their best to end their championship drought. Pierce’s confidence in the team’s ability to thrive in tight moments could prove to be a key factor in their quest for a title.
