Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off a remarkable victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) by completing the highest run chase in T20 cricket history. The match, held at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, saw PBKS chase down a massive target set by KKR, winning the game by eight wickets.

The game started with a bang as KKR’s opening duo, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, unleashed a flurry of boundaries, putting the PBKS bowlers under immense pressure. Despite some early dropped catches by the Punjab fielders, Narine and Salt managed to build a formidable partnership, with Narine eventually scoring a quickfire 71 off just 32 balls.

However, PBKS fought back with a brilliant batting display led by Jonny Bairstow and Impact Sub Prabhsimran Singh. The duo put on a scintillating opening stand, with Singh reaching his fifty in just 18 balls. Bairstow then took charge, smashing the KKR bowlers all around the park to bring up his own fifty in 23 deliveries.

As the chase progressed, PBKS continued to pile on the runs, with Bairstow eventually reaching a stunning century in just 45 balls. Shashank Singh also played a crucial role, smashing a quickfire fifty to guide PBKS to victory.

In the end, it was Shashank who hit the winning runs, sealing Punjab Kings’ historic win and completing the highest successful run chase in T20 cricket. The match was a true spectacle of power-hitting and skill, showcasing the excitement and drama that the IPL is known for.
