Pearson shines as top performer for area boys golfers in 2A tournament

Minnesota Valley Lutheran’s Ben Pearson, Sleepy Eye United’s Anders Coulson, and Cedar Mountain’s Carson Schiller showcased their golfing skills at the Section 2A Boys Golf Tournament on Tuesday at North Links Golf Course in North Mankato. These talented young golfers secured their spots in the next round of sections after finishing in the top seven.

The competition was fierce, with Martin County West’s Hunter Schmidt emerging as the winner with an impressive score of 70. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton took the top spot as a team with a total score of 306. Pearson, Coulson, and Schiller all performed exceptionally well, with Pearson tying for second place with a score of 76.

Other standout performances included Jeffery Simonson and Logan Thiel from JWP tying for second place, and Steven Dimmel and Alex James tying for fifth place. The top four teams and the next best five individuals not on those teams will advance to the final round.

In addition to JWP, United South Central, New Ulm Cathedral, and Sleepy Eye United also qualified for the next round of sections. The final round will take place at North Links on Monday, where the top team and the next best five individual golfers not on that team will advance to the state competition.

Overall, it was a thrilling day of golf with impressive performances from all the participants. The future looks bright for these talented young golfers as they continue to showcase their skills on the course.
