People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges Highlighted at China-France Forum

A forum on the development of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and France was held at the InterContinental Paris – Le Grand on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The event aimed to boost cooperation and mutual learning between the two nations.

President of Xinhua News Agency, Fu Hua, attended the forum and delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of cultural exchanges in strengthening relations between China and France. This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, as well as the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism.

Fu Hua highlighted the role of media, think tanks, and enterprises in promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning. He expressed Xinhua’s commitment to showcasing the fruits of China-France cooperation and promoting the common values of humanity through cultural activities.

Chinese Ambassador to France, Lu Shaye, also emphasized the significance of people-to-people and cultural exchanges in bilateral relations. He mentioned the upcoming cultural and tourism events planned for the 60th anniversary year, including the Paris Olympic Games, as opportunities to enhance cultural cooperation.

The forum, co-sponsored by Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese Embassy in France, and Publicis Groupe, brought together around 250 representatives from both countries, as well as international organizations and media outlets. The theme of the forum was “Reinforcing People-to-people and Cultural Exchanges, Promoting the China-France Spirit.”

Overall, the forum underscored the importance of cultural exchanges in deepening mutual understanding and cooperation between China and France, paving the way for stronger bilateral relations in the future.
