The Pepperdine Waves women’s tennis team faced a tough defeat in the NCAA Championships semifinals, but their journey didn’t end there. Despite a 4-0 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, the Waves showed resilience and determination in their matches.

In the doubles competition, the Waves duo of junior Savannah Broadus and senior Janice Tjen emerged victorious in their match, showcasing their skill and teamwork on the court. While the team fell short in the singles matches, with Georgia securing the first four sets, players like Lisa Zaar and Nikki Redelijk put up a strong fight, winning their first sets.

Prior to their semifinal loss, the Waves had a standout performance against Michigan, defeating them 4-1. Broadus, Tjen, and Yang were among the players who shone in both doubles and singles matches, contributing to the team’s success.

Looking ahead, Broadus, Tjen, and Zaar are set to compete in the NCAA Singles and Doubles tournaments, with high expectations as top-seeded players. Despite the setback in the semifinals, the Waves have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with in collegiate tennis, ending the season with a commendable 21-7 record.

As they continue their journey in the tournaments, the Waves remain focused and determined to showcase their talent and passion for the sport, aiming for success and recognition on the national stage. Stay tuned for more updates on their progress and achievements in the NCAA Championships.
