Peter Cat Recording Co. has set the music world abuzz with the announcement of their upcoming album, “Beta,” set to be released on August 9 through Muddy Water. The band also revealed that the first single from the album will be released on May 16, coinciding with the start of their headlining tour dates.
The New Delhi-based band will kick off their tour with a run alongside Khruangbin before heading to the U.S., U.K., and Europe, and finally returning to India for a series of shows. Tickets for the headlining dates will go on sale on Thursday, May 16, at 10 a.m. local time.
Teasing the album on Instagram, Peter Cat shared a video featuring a herd of elephants enjoying an edible arrangement with the album’s title written in watermelon slices. Describing “Beta” as a collection of stories about the future told 50 years ago to make sense of the present, the band explained that the album was chosen from five potential titles by drummer Karan Singh’s six-month-old son.
Produced by Suryakant Sawhney, Kartik Pillai, and Dhruv Bhola, “Beta” promises a blend of indie, bossa nova, jazz, psychedelic, and more. Influenced by crooner music, the band aims to deliver an emotional and unique musical experience to their fans.
