Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of the upcoming two-part musical film, Wicked. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Peter will be voicing the character of Dr. Dillamond in Universal’s adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical.
The announcement was made during Universal’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, where new footage of Wicked was unveiled. The film is set to hit theaters over Thanksgiving this year, with the second part scheduled for release during the year-end holidays in 2025.
Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, with Cynthia Erivo starring as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. Dr. Dillamond, voiced by Peter Dinklage, is a goat and a professor of history at Shiz University who warns Elphaba about dark forces threatening the speaking animals of Oz.
Peter Dinklage rose to fame for his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, winning four Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for his performance. He has also appeared in a variety of films, including X-Men: Days of Future Past, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Avengers: Infinity War.
Fans can catch the first part of Wicked in theaters on November 27, 2024, followed by the second part on November 26, 2025. With Peter Dinklage lending his voice to the film, anticipation for this musical adaptation is higher than ever.
