Petoskey High School praised for successful college application promotion efforts

Petoskey High School in Michigan has been recognized as one of the 27 School of Excellence awardees by the ACT’s American College Application Campaign (ACAC). This prestigious honor was bestowed upon the school for its dedication to helping students pursue higher education and career pathways.

Over the past 10 years, Petoskey High School has been committed to ensuring that its students are aware of the various opportunities available to them after graduation. This year, seniors at the school submitted a record-breaking 621 college applications, showcasing the impact of the school’s efforts to guide students towards their desired educational destinations.

The school’s counseling team, led by Tamara Kolodziej, Katie Frentz, and Sarah MacLean, has implemented various programs and events such as Decision Day, College Application Month, and College Cash Campaign to encourage students to plan for their future and apply to colleges that align with their goals.

The recognition from ACAC serves as validation for the school’s hard work and dedication to student success. Lisa King, director of the American College Application Campaign, commended Petoskey High School for empowering students from all backgrounds to apply to college and set themselves on a path for success.

The counseling team at Petoskey High School plans to continue creating programs to support students and aims to share their successful initiatives with other local districts.
