PGA Championship postponed following tragic accident near course | Golf News

The start of the second round of the PGA Championship has been delayed due to a fatal accident near the course. The PGA Championship released a statement informing the public about the delay, citing a serious accident near the course as the reason.

According to the statement, the start of Round 2 will be delayed, with the next update scheduled for 12pm BST. The starting time will be at least one hour after the update is provided. The first group was supposed to tee off at 12.15pm BST, but the start time will be pushed back due to the accident.

In addition to the tragic accident, inclement weather is also expected to disrupt today’s play at the PGA Championship. The Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed that a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a bus occurred near Valhalla Golf Club.

The preliminary investigation revealed that an adult male pedestrian was crossing Shelbyville Road when he was struck by a shuttle bus traveling eastbound. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The LMPD Traffic Unit is currently investigating the incident.
