The Philadelphia Phillies exploded in the ninth inning to avenge Friday’s late loss at Coors Field, defeating the Colorado Rockies 8-4 in a thrilling comeback win on Saturday night.

Edmundo Sosa, who has been filling in at shortstop since Trea Turner’s injury, played a key role in the Phillies’ victory. Sosa tripled in Brandon Marsh to tie the game in the ninth inning and then scored on a Garrett Stubbs single. The Phillies continued to pile on runs, with Bryce Harper hitting a three-run homer and Nick Castellanos adding an RBI single.

Sosa, who has been on fire since Turner’s injury, expressed his excitement about helping the team win. “It’s really a lot of fun to be playing the game that I love and to be helping the team win,” Sosa said. “When Trea’s injury happened, that was something we were not expecting and it caught the club by surprise. But I was focused, preparing myself every day and when this opportunity comes, I have to seize it.”

Harper, who responded to being ejected in the first inning of the previous game with a four-RBI performance, and Stubbs, who had a productive game with two hits and the game-winning RBI, also played crucial roles in the Phillies’ victory.

The win, which went to Jose Ruiz, helped the Phillies avoid their first series loss since early in the season. With a record of 38-15, the Phillies continue to showcase their strength as they aim to win their 12th series out of 15 on Sunday afternoon.
