The victory was sealed by senior Pallavi Sundaram, who won her singles match against Molly Archer.

Sundaram expressed her relief and excitement after the win, stating, “It’s my senior year, and this is what I’ve been aiming to do.” She also highlighted the competitive history between Parkersburg and Huntington throughout her four years in high school.

Looking ahead to the state tournament, Sundaram emphasized the importance of motivation and teamwork, stating, “My mindset is to just keep pushing. We’ve made it this far, we can make it more.” The team’s head coach, Eric Stanley, praised the girls for their performance and the seniors for stepping up when needed.

On the boys’ side, Parkersburg faced a tough opponent in Cabell Midland and ultimately fell with a final score of 4-1. Despite the loss, Coach Stanley commended the boys for their fighting spirit and resilience on the court.

The team will now prepare for the regional final against Cabell Midland and the individual singles and doubles tournament. With a mix of experienced seniors and promising underclassmen, the future looks bright for Parkersburg High School’s tennis program.
