Pierz Pioneers Sweep Pequot Lakes Patriots in Doubleheader

In an exciting doubleheader matchup, the Pierz Pioneers dominated the Pequot Lakes Patriots with back-to-back wins of 7-3 and 10-0 on Thursday, April 25. Kendra Melby was a standout player for the Pioneers, recording three hits, including a triple, in the games.

In Game One, Melby went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Madelyn Gaffke and Delilah Rocheleau added doubles to contribute to the Pioneers’ victory. Britney Schommer pitched a solid game, striking out five batters for Pierz. On the Patriots’ side, Georgia James put up a good fight with six strikeouts in the loss.

Game Two saw Alyssa Sadlovsky, Kenna Otte, and Liz Gross shine for the Pioneers, each recording two hits and two runs scored. Erin Thesing was a standout pitcher, allowing no runs and striking out five for the win. Rian Zutter of Pequot Lakes managed a double in Game Two, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the dominant performance by Pierz.

With these wins, Pierz improved their conference record to 4-1 and their overall record to an impressive 7-1. The Patriots, on the other hand, now stand at 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Up next, Pequot Lakes will face Foley, while Pierz will take on Sauk Centre in their upcoming games.
