Pierz Pioneers and Pine River-Backus Tigers Shine in Golf Invitationals
In a display of skill and determination, the Pierz Pioneers and Pine River-Backus Tigers showcased their golfing prowess in separate invitationals on Monday, May 13.
At the Ken Helling Invite held at Kimball Golf Club, the Pierz Pioneers dominated the competition, securing first place with a team score of 393. Leading the charge was Whitney LeBlanc, who finished in third place with an impressive 89, including three birdies on her scoreboard. Tiffany Virnig followed closely behind in fourth place with a score of 96. The team’s strong performance was rounded out by Macey LeBlanc, Kari LeBlanc, and Joleen Weyer, who finished in sixth, eighth, and ninth place, respectively.
Meanwhile, at the John Kirk Invite at Long Bow Golf Club, the Pine River-Backus Tigers put up a valiant effort, securing second place with a team score of 414. Lyric Aulie led the team with a third-place finish and a score of 92. Kasidy Bristow, Ava Hansen, and Molly Lupella also contributed to the team’s success, finishing in sixth, ninth, and 13th place, respectively.
Both teams displayed exceptional talent and teamwork, setting the stage for future success in their upcoming competitions. The Pierz Pioneers will next compete in the Granite Ridge Conference meet at Wapicada Golf Club on Tuesday, May 14, while the Pine River-Backus Tigers will participate in the Fergus Falls Invite on Friday, May 17.
