Santa Fe Catholic junior Nyer Kerr has made quite the impression in the world of high school tennis. Moving from Tampa to Lakeland, Kerr enrolled at Santa Fe Catholic and decided to try out high school tennis for the first time. Little did she know that she would dominate the competition and become The Ledger’s 2024 Girls Tennis Player of the Year.
Kerr’s journey to the top was nothing short of impressive. She won the district title at No. 1 singles, qualified for the state tournament, and only suffered her first loss in the second round at state. Kerr’s strong baseline game and mental toughness were key factors in her success on the court.
Despite facing tough opponents throughout the season, Kerr emerged victorious and set the tone as the player to beat in the county. Her 8-0 regular season record and West County championship solidified her as a force to be reckoned with.
Looking ahead, Kerr is excited for her senior season and hopes to continue her success in high school tennis. She also has her sights set on playing college tennis in the future.
