PM Netanyahu reacts to UN adding Israel to ‘list of shame’ for alleged violations against children | World News

The United Nations has made a significant move by adding Israel and Hamas to their “list of shame” for documented rights violations against children in armed conflict. This decision was reported by The Times of Israel and has sparked controversy and strong reactions from both sides.

For the first time, Israel and Hamas have been included in this list, which already features notorious names like Russia, the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, and others. This inclusion marks a significant moment as Israel is believed to be the first democratic country to be listed.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted strongly to the UN’s decision, calling it “delusional” and defending the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) as the “most moral army in the world.” He criticized the UN for siding with Hamas, a group he referred to as “murderers.”

The Israeli Mission to the UN filmed Israel’s Permanent Representative receiving the formal notification from the UN Secretary-General’s office. The representative emphasized that this decision would only benefit terrorists and “reward Hamas.”

The conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of thousands of children, according to reports. However, the accuracy of these figures has been questioned, leading to further debate on the credibility of the data used in the UN report.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz condemned the UN’s decision, calling it an “act of villainy” and warning of consequences for Israel’s relations with the UN. He reiterated that the IDF is the most moral army and that this decision would not change that fact.

Overall, the addition of Israel and Hamas to the UN’s “list of shame” has stirred up a heated debate on the rights violations against children in armed conflict and the implications of such a designation.
