A security guard was shot and seriously injured outside Canadian rap star Drake’s mega-mansion in Toronto early Tuesday, sparking a heavy police presence in the ritzy Bridle Path neighborhood. The shooting occurred shortly after 2 a.m. ET, with the guard suffering a gunshot wound to the upper chest and being unconscious when officers arrived.

Toronto police Insp. Paul Krawczyk stated that it is unclear whether Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, was home at the time of the incident. However, police are in contact with the rapper’s team and are cooperating with the investigation. While details are limited, a police source indicated that initial reports suggest it was a drive-by shooting.

Neighbors reported hearing three or four gunshots followed by the sound of a car speeding away. The injured guard was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery. Police have recovered security camera footage capturing the incident and are gathering more surveillance video.

Drake is currently involved in a high-profile feud with California rapper Kendrick Lamar, with both artists releasing diss tracks targeting each other. The ongoing conflict has raised concerns about the safety of celebrities in the music industry. Kent Moyer, president and CEO of the World Protection Group, emphasized the need to discreetly protect celebrities’ private information and locations to ensure their safety.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to determine the motive behind the shooting and identify the suspects involved. The incident has shed light on the potential risks faced by high-profile figures in the entertainment industry, highlighting the importance of security measures to safeguard their well-being.
