Portmarnock Resort Completes Multi-Million Euro Renovation of Jameson Golf Links

Portmarnock Resort has recently unveiled the completion of a multi-million-euro renovation of its rebranded Jameson Golf Links, marking the end of an exciting two-year project. The renovation project involved the remodelling of numerous holes on the championship golf course, creating one of Ireland’s most picturesque and thrilling links courses.

One of the highlights of the renovation is the reimagined 17th hole, which was previously a challenging par three but has now been transformed into a risk-and-reward par four. The modifications to the course, originally designed by Bernhard Langer in 1995, include elevating tee boxes and greens to offer stunning panoramic views of north Dublin’s Velvet Strand and the famous island known as Ireland’s Eye.

Led by Northland Real Estate Properties and the Gagliardi family, who acquired the resort in 2019, the renovations were masterminded by Jeff Lynch, director and senior architect at (re)GOLF. The rebranding of the course highlights the historical connection between the land, the clubhouse, and the renowned Jameson whiskey dynasty, who played a significant role in introducing golf to Ireland’s north Dublin coast.

With the addition of a new par four and enhancements to landing areas and bunkering, the course now plays as a par 72, measuring 7,266 yards off the back tees. Director of Golf at Jameson Golf Links, Paul McCanny, expressed his excitement about the positive feedback received from members and guests, stating that the course now offers one of the best links golf experiences in Ireland.

The renovation project also included redesigning several holes, transforming par fours into par fives and vice versa, to enhance the overall golfing experience. Jeff Lynch from re(GOLF) design emphasized the importance of creating a handcrafted landscape that enhances the connection between golfers and the coastal environment. Overall, the renovation of Jameson Golf Links has elevated the course to new heights, offering golfers a memorable and challenging experience amidst the stunning backdrop of the Irish coast.
