Possible Vice Presidential candidate accompanies Trump on flight to lively Jersey Shore rally following his rejection of another contender

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former President Donald Trump made a bold move by holding a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, a state that has not been won by a Republican at the presidential level since 1988. Trump was joined by North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who has been rumored as a possible running mate for the former president.

Speaking to thousands of supporters on the beach in front of the Jersey Shore resort town’s ferris wheel, Burgum praised Trump and urged undecided voters to support him in the upcoming election. He contrasted Trump’s strength, law and order, and job creation with what he described as weaknesses in Joe Biden’s policies.

The rally was attended by an estimated 80,000 supporters, making it the largest campaign event Trump has hosted so far in the 2024 cycle. The ability to draw such a large crowd in a traditionally blue state like New Jersey sends a strong message to the Biden campaign.

During the rally, Trump took shots at President Biden, calling him a “total moron” and leading the crowd in a chant against Democrats. He also criticized Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney leading his criminal prosecution in New York, labeling him “Fat Alvin.”

The event also featured New Jersey Democrat-turned-Republican congressman Jeff Van Drew, who highlighted his switch in party affiliation, claiming that the Democratic Party no longer represents the values it once did.

Overall, the rally in Wildwood was a show of force for Trump and his supporters, signaling his continued influence in the Republican Party and setting the stage for a contentious election season ahead.
