Reading Time: < 1 minute

A devastating tornado tore through the small town of Greenfield, Iowa, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Multiple people were killed as homes were decimated and businesses were damaged. The town’s hospital was among the buildings affected, forcing at least a dozen injured individuals to be transported to hospitals elsewhere.

Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Alex Dinkla confirmed the fatalities at a news conference, stating that the search for missing individuals was ongoing. The Adair County Health System set up a triage center at the Greenfield high school to provide medical attention to those in need.

The tornado, which struck the town of 2,000 residents located 55 miles southwest of Des Moines, was part of a series of severe weather events that hit several states. The town was left in ruins, with debris scattered everywhere and homes reduced to rubble.

Despite the devastation, the community came together to help each other in the aftermath of the storm. Residents worked tirelessly to salvage belongings and support one another during this difficult time.

Governor Kim Reynolds expressed her plans to visit Greenfield to assess the damage and offer support to the affected residents. The state of Iowa was on high alert for severe weather, with tornado warnings issued in various areas.

The resilience and strength of the community were evident as they faced the aftermath of the tornado, showing that even in the face of tragedy, Iowans stand together in solidarity.
