Praise for Selangor Women’s Digital Entrepreneurship Agenda

The Selangor government is taking steps to empower young women through digital entrepreneurship with the launch of the “Usahawanita: Young Women Digital Media Incentive” programme. Within just two days of opening for registrations, the programme received an overwhelming response with 302 applications.

Anfaal Saari, the state women and family empowerment committee chairman, highlighted the importance of embracing digitalization and ensuring that no Selangor citizens, especially young women, are left behind. The state government has allocated RM231,000 for the programme in 2023, showing their commitment to supporting women in business.

The programme, organized by Wanita Berdaya Selangor, consists of four phases including basic and advanced training, practical sessions, and a competition for the final 30 participants to showcase their products. WBS will sponsor the costs of business website development for a year for these individuals.

The top participant will be crowned the “Ikon Usahawanita Muda Selangor” in June and will receive various entrepreneurial incentives. Anfaal emphasized that women have a place in the business world and can achieve success with the right skills and dedication.

The programme also featured talks and workshops to prepare participants for the competition, with WBS CEO Rozeeta @Hidayah Ramli and Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron in attendance. This initiative aims to not only support young women in their entrepreneurial journey but also to inspire and empower them to achieve their dreams in the digital age.
