American political scientist and global political risk consultant Ian Bremmer has made a bold prediction for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election in India. In an exclusive interview with NDTV Profit, Bremmer stated that the BJP is likely to win 305 seats, with a margin of +/- 10.
Bremmer, the founder of the Eurasia Group, emphasized the stability and consistency of the Indian general election compared to other global political events. He highlighted the macro-level geopolitical uncertainty and the impact of politics on the global marketplace, pointing out that the India election appears to be the only stable and consistent political event amidst the chaos.
According to Bremmer, the BJP is expected to secure 295-315 seats in the election, based on research conducted by the Eurasia Group. This prediction aligns with the party’s previous victories in the 2014 and 2019 elections.
While acknowledging the strong challenge posed by the Congress-led INDIA bloc, Bremmer emphasized the smooth transition and lack of uncertainty in the Indian political system. He praised India’s free and fair electoral process and expressed confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ability to secure a third term based on economic performance and consistent reforms.
Looking ahead, Bremmer highlighted India’s potential for economic growth and its increasing influence on the global stage. He projected that India could become the fourth largest economy in the world next year and the third largest by 2028, underscoring the country’s growing importance in shaping international relations.
