President of London Drugs warns that hackers are actively searching for vulnerabilities

London Drugs, a popular pharmacy and retailer based in Richmond, B.C., recently fell victim to a cyber attack that forced the company to close its stores for over a week. President Clint Mahlman expressed his confusion as to why the company was targeted, but emphasized that hackers are constantly looking for vulnerabilities in online systems.

Mahlman revealed that London Drugs had been preparing for such an incident for years, and they acted swiftly to shut down their systems once the breach was detected on April 28. Since then, the company has been working diligently with cybersecurity experts to ensure that all systems are secure before reopening.

Despite the attack, Mahlman assured customers that there is no evidence to suggest that their data was compromised. He also mentioned that the company did not want to provide too many details about the incident initially, as they did not want to give the attackers any leverage.

The cyber attack on London Drugs comes amidst reports of similar incidents in the B.C. government, where Premier David Eby announced the detection of sophisticated cybersecurity threats. Mahlman stated that the investigation is ongoing with the help of experts from across the continent.

As London Drugs gradually reopens its stores, Mahlman emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety and security of their systems and customers. The company’s proactive response to the cyber attack highlights the growing threat of cybercrime and the need for businesses to remain vigilant in protecting their online infrastructure.
