Presidents of UAE and Republic of Korea Meet in Seoul to Enhance Special Strategic Partnership

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Republic of Korea President Yoon Suk Yeol met in Seoul today to strengthen their countries’ Special Strategic Partnership and explore opportunities for expanded cooperation. The meeting, part of Sheikh Mohamed’s state visit to Korea, included discussions on various fields such as economy, energy, defense, and culture.

Both leaders expressed their commitment to enhancing UAE-Korean relations and working towards sustainable prosperity for their peoples. They reviewed existing cooperation, including the successful partnership on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, and discussed potential collaborations in areas like clean energy, technology, and trade.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the deep strategic relations between the UAE and Korea, noting the significant progress made since 2009. He expressed his aspiration for continued collaboration to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for both countries.

During the visit, agreements covering energy, climate change, infrastructure, trade, and technology were discussed, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to building partnerships with like-minded countries. Sheikh Mohamed praised Korea as an ambitious and inspiring model of development and thanked President Yoon Suk Yeol for the warm welcome.

A luncheon hosted by President Yoon Suk Yeol honored Sheikh Mohamed and the accompanying delegation, which included key UAE officials such as Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei. On the Korean side, several ministers and senior officials were also present.

The discussions and agreements reached during the visit are expected to further strengthen the UAE-Korean partnership and pave the way for increased cooperation in various fields. Both countries are committed to working together to achieve their shared vision of development and prosperity for their peoples.
