Press Telegram reports on Business Council’s Women of Excellence Awards distribution

The Women’s Business Council recently held their annual Women of Excellence Awards ceremony at the Reef in Long Beach, where over 100 guests gathered to celebrate the achievements of outstanding women in the community. The event, hosted by Vice President Dana Buchanan, featured a presentation by Dr. Nishan Tchekmedyian from the City of Hope, as well as congratulatory messages from LB Chamber President Jeremy Harris and past WBC president April Barnes.

The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion moderated by WBC president Yvonne Santos, featuring honorees in various categories such as Outstanding Community Leader, Outstanding Woman in Business, and Outstanding Woman in Education. Among the winners were Brandee Raygoza, Alba Danely, Sossi Crilly, and Tasha Hunter, who were recognized for their contributions to the Long Beach Chamber community.

In a separate event, the Steel Magnolias group partnered with the Stramski Center to treat patients and families to a day at the Dirtbags baseball game at Long Beach State. The children and families enjoyed pregame activities, a delicious lunch, and the opportunity to watch the game from the right field pavilion. Despite the Dirtbags’ loss, the event was a memorable experience for all involved.

Overall, both events showcased the spirit of community and support for women in business and healthcare in Long Beach. The dedication and achievements of these women continue to inspire and empower others in the community.
