Washington and Lee University Claims Top Seed in ODAC Men’s Tennis Championship

LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee University has secured the top seed in the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Tennis Championship. The Generals have a remarkable history in the conference, having won 13 consecutive championships and a total of 41 ODAC titles since the league’s inception in 1977.

The tournament is set to kick off on Tuesday with quarterfinal matches at each of the top four seeds. Washington and Lee (W&L) will face eighth-seeded Hampden-Sydney in the quarterfinals, with the potential to advance to the semifinals and championship match at Virginia Wesleyan University over the weekend.

In their regular season meeting on April 26, W&L dominated Hampden-Sydney with an 8-1 victory, showcasing their strength in both singles and doubles play. Led by junior Evan Erb, who boasts a team-high 18 singles wins, the Generals have been a force to be reckoned with this season.

First-year standout Sanjheev Rao leads the team in singles winning percentage, while players like Heys Parker and Connor Coleman have also contributed significantly to the team’s success. In doubles play, pairs like Parker and senior Josh Rassin have been consistent performers for W&L.

With a strong lineup and a history of success in the conference, Washington and Lee University is poised to make a strong run for yet another ODAC championship. Fans can follow the action through live scoring and stay updated on the tournament by visiting the ODAC website.
