Washington and Lee University Claims Top Seed in ODAC Women’s Tennis Championship

LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee University’s women’s tennis team has secured the top seed in the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Tennis Championship. The Generals have a remarkable record of 20 consecutive conference championships and 32 ODAC crowns in the last 34 years.

The tournament will kick off with quarterfinal play on Wednesday, with Washington and Lee hosting eighth-seeded Bridgewater. If the Generals advance, they will face the winner of the match between fourth-seeded Shenandoah and fifth-seeded Randolph-Macon on Saturday. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday at Virginia Wesleyan University.

Washington and Lee’s dominance on the court is evident in their lineup, with seven players boasting double-digit singles wins. Standout players include Lauren Long and Gabi Moss, who lead the team with 15 wins each. Sophomores Grace Lorenz and Annie Jennings have also been key contributors with 12 wins apiece.

In doubles play, the Generals have utilized various pairings throughout the season, with the most common tandems having played 10 or more matches together. Long and Moss, ranked 16th in Division III by the ITA, have been a formidable duo at No. 1 doubles.
