Prince Harry and Meghan receive warm welcome and discuss mental health in Nigeria

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received a warm welcome in Nigeria as they embarked on their first official visit to the country. The royal couple’s visit was marked by cheers, song, and dance as they engaged with the local community to discuss the important topic of mental health.

Their visit began in Abuja, where they visited Lightway Academy, a school supported by their Archewell Foundation. The couple was greeted with enthusiasm by students and staff, who were eager to hear their insights on mental health. From Abuja, Prince Harry traveled to Kaduna, where he met with wounded soldiers at a military hospital. The Duke of Sussex’s commitment to supporting military personnel wounded in action through initiatives like the Invictus Games was evident as he engaged with the soldiers and listened to their stories.

During their visit, the couple also met with Nigeria’s chief of defence staff, Christopher Musa, who highlighted the challenges faced by the country’s armed forces in dealing with armed criminal gangs and jihadists. The Duke of Sussex expressed Nigeria’s interest in hosting the 2029 Invictus Games, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.

As they concluded their visit, Meghan encouraged the students at Lightway Academy to prioritize their mental health and not suffer in silence.
