Reading Time: < 1 minute

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a grand entrance in Nigeria, where they are on a mission to advocate for mental health support for young people affected by conflicts and to promote the Invictus Games. The royal couple’s visit began with a visit to the Lightway Academy school, which is supported by their Archewell foundation and provides training for young girls impacted by conflicts in Nigeria.

During their visit, Harry and Meghan interacted with students, participated in a mental health summit, and met with wounded soldiers and their families. The couple emphasized the importance of addressing mental health issues and breaking the stigma surrounding it. Meghan praised Harry’s openness on the topic and encouraged the schoolchildren to embrace their experiences and never be ashamed.

The couple also attended events with Nigeria’s military officers and will be participating in basketball and volleyball matches in Abuja and Lagos. Meghan will co-host an event on women in leadership with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization.

The news of Meghan’s visit has generated excitement in Nigeria, where her life and connection to the British royal family are closely followed. The Nigerian military has praised the Invictus Games for its positive impact on the recovery and mental health of servicemembers who have been fighting against Islamic extremists in the country.

Overall, Prince Harry and Meghan’s visit to Nigeria is not only raising awareness about mental health but also showcasing their support for the country’s military and their commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by conflicts.
