Prince Harry to Compete Solo in This Year’s Invictus Games | Global News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Prince Harry is gearing up for the 10th-anniversary edition of the Invictus Games, set to take place in the UK on May 8. Despite reports of him scrapping the trip, it has been confirmed that the Duke will be present at the event.

Founded by Prince Harry as a charity, the Invictus Games hold great significance, but the Royal family’s lukewarm response to his involvement is evident. None of the royal family members are expected to accompany him at St. Cathedral, according to Daily Mail.

Following the event in the UK, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are scheduled to travel to Nigeria to participate in traditional cultural activities. There is also speculation that Nigeria is interested in hosting a future edition of the Games with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The upcoming event is seen as an opportunity to heal the ongoing rift within the royal family, although King Charles III and other senior members are not expected to attend. The government of the United Kingdom has shown support for the Games, with a secure fund of $32 million allocated for the bid to host the 2027 Games in Birmingham.

This year’s Invictus Games will showcase Prince Harry’s resilience as he navigates his relationship with his family and continues to champion the cause of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel through the power of sport.
