Prince William delivers a poignant message to Prince Harry | Global News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Prince William’s recent comments about his son Prince George’s interest in aviation have served as a poignant reminder of the strained relationship between Prince Harry and his family. The Duke of Cambridge hinted that George, who is second in line to the throne, may follow in his footsteps and become a pilot, much like his father.

Royal author Tom Quinn expressed that William’s remarks about George’s potential career path would undoubtedly evoke feelings of loss for Prince Harry, who himself was a helicopter pilot. Quinn noted that Harry would have loved to share stories of his time in the air with his nephew, but sadly, he has no relationship with George.

The revelation of George’s budding passion for flying came during a conversation between Prince William and Reverend Squadron Leader Chrissie Lacey at a Buckingham Palace garden party. The Prince of Wales disclosed that George, at just 10 years old, is eager to visit an RAF base in Norfolk and is already showing signs of being a “potential pilot in the making.”

George’s fascination with aircraft dates back to his toddler years, as witnessed during a trip to Germany and Poland in 2017. Antoine van Gent, who was present during the visit, shared that George was excited to explore helicopters and even got a chance to sit in the cockpit with his uncle’s guidance.

Overall, Prince William’s comments about Prince George’s aviation interests have not only highlighted the young prince’s potential career path but also underscored the emotional distance between Prince Harry and his family. The subtle reminder of their fractured relationship serves as a poignant reflection of the ongoing rift within the royal family.
